Hourly Pay Range (Minimum - Midpoint - Maximum):

$46.175 - $59.580 - $72.986


The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position.  The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.



What You Will Do
Responsible for Fleet Management and the development, implementation, aspects of and day-to-day management of vehicle assets and inventory and the operation of the patient/employee transportation services for Sharp HealthCare. Responsible for the management of fleet operations for Sharp Healthcare. (all motorized vehicles including forklifts and golf carts). Responsible for tracking of assets and disseminating list to appropriate stakeholders, authorized driver management, fuel and maintenance tracking and records, health and safety management, Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, vehicle registration and licensure tracking, Department of Motor Vehicle liaison and record maintenance. Manages the daily activities of the patient transportation services and employee shuttles for Sharp Healthcare. Supervises and oversees department staff including hiring, coaching, conducting performance appraisals and determining corrective action (in conjunction with Human Resources). Responsible for fleet purchasing, leasing, maintenance and repairs. Works with funding sources to acquire new and replacement vehicles. Monitors and controls ongoing expenses and staff productivity. Assures compliance of federal and county vehicle contracts. Develops and monitors the department's annual budget, operational plans, and program goals and objectives. Responsible for disseminating operational and leadership information to departmental employees. Creates and fosters a positive work environment to support organization activities. Monitors quality of service, identifies areas requiring improvement, and develops and implements action plans as appropriate. Works collaboratively with other departments to facilitate system functioning.

Required Qualifications
  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • 3 Years experienced in the management of van service, supervisory skills, and fleet management.
  • Driver's License - CA Department of Motor Vehicles -REQUIRED

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree

Other Qualification Requirements
  • Utilizes reliable transportation and possesses adequate personal insurance coverage. Demonstrates clean driving record in accordance with requirements of the employer DMV pull notice program and Sharp HealthCare Driver Guidelines.

Essential Functions
  • SERVICE/ Program Implementation/Development
    Responsible for the management of fleet operations (all motorized vehicles including forklifts and golf carts). Tracks all vehicle assets from acquisition to disposal and keeps appropriate stakeholders informed. Responsible for authorized drivers management, fuel and maintenance tracking and records.
    Responsible for the implementation, development and operation of the transportation services. Directs the day-to-day activities of the patient transportation and employee shuttles system-wide. Responsible for coordination of all vehicle repairs, preventative maintenance programs, and safety inspections.
  • QUALITY
    Is knowledgeable of regulatory compliance policy/procedures for health and safety, DOT, vehicle registration and licensure pertaining to employees and vehicles. Responsible for adherence to same.
    Meets departmental goals and objectives as they are related to fleet management and patient/employee transportation.
  • FINANCE
    Develops annual budgets, operational plans and goals
    Monitors and controls outgoing expenses for fleet purchasing, leasing, fuel, maintenance, repairs tracking and reporting and works with stakeholders to control costs.
    Controls ongoing departmental expenses and meets projected budget with only approved variances.
    Monitors and controls staff productivity. Demonstrates initiative and proactive approach to staffing and use of volunteers.
  • PEOPLE / LEADERSHIP
    Supervises, directs and evaluates all department staff for van service including contracted staff and volunteers. Activities include hiring, coaching, conducting performance appraisals and developing improvement corrective plans.
    Demonstrates appropriate management, supervisory and professional skills. Prepares and submits required reports in a complete and timely manner. Services on hospital and community committees and appropriate. Demonstrates a commitment to maintaining profession-specific skills and enhancing knowledge base and an awareness and sensitivity to age and population difference and needs.
  • CUSTOMER SERVICE
    Consistently communicates in a positive and timely manner with staff members, Sharp employees, physicians, patients and visitors
    Handles problems in a professional and proactive manner.
    Demonstrates teamwork, cooperation and responsiveness.
    Monitors customer service satisfaction measurement. Results demonstrate a positive trend. Establishes and implements action plans as appropriate.
