$81.330 - $104.950 - $128.560The stated pay scale reflects the range that Sharp reasonably expects to pay for this position. The actual pay rate and pay grade for this position will be dependent on a variety of factors, including an applicant’s years of experience, unique skills and abilities, education, alignment with similar internal candidates, marketplace factors, other requirements for the position, and employer business practices.
What You Will Do
Lead and manage enterprise initiatives that support pharmaceutical contracting, procurement, distribution, utilization and reimbursement in the hospital and ambulatory care settings resulting in cost savings to the system.
Required Qualifications
- 3 Years experience in a hospital, ambulatory care and/or managed care pharmacy environment.
- California Pharmacist License - CA State Board of Pharmacy -REQUIRED
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 Years experience with managed care, PBM and/or Medicare Part D, Medicaid, Commercial Health Insurance.
- Experience with Oncology drugs

Assisting Management with supervisory responsibilities such as hiring, terminating, coaching, training, scheduling and evaluations of the Medication Recovery and Assistance Specialists. - System Integration
Sets goals and proceeds with projects taking into account the principles of interdisciplinary integration and alignment with system goals.
Leads and facilitates interdisciplinary workgroups and committees to support the development and implementation of drug cost savings initiatives.
Collaborates with stakeholders across different disciplines to create standard protocols and guidelines for cost effective drug utilization based on site of care. - Contracting
Collaborates with Contract’s team to evaluate on-going Payer contract changes that may have implications to drug reimbursement and net revenue, across all ambulatory care settings.
Assists Contract’s team with DOFR contracting related to drug utilization for medical groups and hospitals.
Negotiates pharmaceutical contracts for high cost and high use medications to assist with formulary decisions and optimize cost savings.
Reviews and evaluates pharmaceutical contracts prior to enactment by the Vice President of Pharmacy Services.
Works with Pharmaceutical Wholesalers, GPOs and other pharmacy vendors to ensure Sharp HealthCare is receiving accurate pharmaceutical pricing based on contracts. - Cost Savings Initiatives
Works with pharmaceutical vendors, GPO and pharmacy networks to evaluate, implement and validate drug cost savings initiatives in collaboration with System Clinical team and entity pharmacy leadership.
Participates in advisory groups, focus groups, professional organizational meetings, or other designated activities to further identify cost savings and revenue enhancement opportunities for the system.
Provides drug cost and savings analysis as needed to assist with pharmacy budgeting, formulary decisions and/or projects.
Reviews and tracks new and emerging high cost medications for risk stratification, pharmacy budgeting, contracts and formulary management decisions across Sharp HealthCare.
Evaluates, tracks and presents savings opportunities and initiatives utilizing, medication use evaluations, SBARs and dashboards.
